For the last several years, my church and my family have been involved in Operation Christmas Child, which is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. I'll let everyone's favorite Uncle Si explain
Last year our church sent almost 100 boxes! Even more impressive, 10 of those came from a Kindergarten class that wanted to share what they had with other children. One little boy put in a pencil he had received as a prize at school for his hard work! What a great way for kids to learn about giving to children around the world!
Our church is proud of what we were able to give last year, but we think this year we can do better! We have decided to collect items all year long. Then, in November we will have a big packing party to put all the things we have collected into shoeboxes! I would like to invite all of my readers to do the same!
For the month of January we will be collecting personal hygiene and hair items. Some suggestions are:
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Bars of soap
- Personal packages of tissues
- Bandages
- Hairbrushes
- Hairbands
- Hair bows
- etc. Be creative!
