"Our Family Library" features the books that make up my family's personal library.  These are books that we not only own, but love to read!  We're sharing our thoughts on this book because we think you might love it too!

I'm not sure where I got this book, but judging by the message inside the cover to some children I've never met, I'm sure it was a garage sale or thrift store.  I'm also sure that the author, Max Lucado, is what caught my eye.

If you're not familiar with the author, according to his website, Lucado is a best-selling author that has sold more than 100 million copies of his books and has been published in 54 different languages!  You can find board books he has wrtten for children, devotionals for teens, and numerous books for adults.  In Lucado's own words, he “writes books for people who don’t read books".

While there are several of his books sitting on our shelves, this is the first Lucado book I've read with my daughter.  Much like Robert Munsch's "Love You Forever", it makes a parent tear up a little.  It wraps up many of my thoughts, feelings, and conversations into something I can share with my daughter.

It talks about how God made her special.

It talks about how God chose her to be my daughter and me to be her mommy.

It talks about my love for her.  How I will always be there for her.  How I will always love her.

And it talks about my responsibility to teach her about God's love.

I've talked before about how important it is to teach my daughter these things now--while our relationship is still simple.  While snuggling on the couch with a bedtime story is about as good as it gets.  Before we have to worry about boys, parties, and power struggles.  I want to instill in her now how much I love her, and more importantly, how much God loves her, before her life gets complicated.

Lucado has a poetic way of expressing these same thoughts and feelings.  When I might stutter or stumble over the things I want to tell her, I can pull out this book.  The words alone have no meaning, but when paired with the experiences we've already shared, it's like a love letter or a personal journal written just for us.
